Warren Neth began gardening at an early age, specializing in harvesting (i.e. gobbling up) fresh fruit from his family’s small orchard. Warren’s grandmother was a true believer in edible landscaping, cultivating a muriad of fruits, veggies, and herbs and regularly treating her family to home-made goodies like jams and pickles. Her enthusiasm rubbed off on young Warren, who caught the gardening bug as a tot and never quite got rid of it.
Warren is also the founder of Backyard Bounty Co-op’s host organization, Urban Abundance. In February of 2011, Warren invited Urban Abundance intern and Backyard Bounty coordinator Maika Horjus to tag-team an experimental market garden. The team is excited to see how this gardening venture grows!
Vanport Gardens consists of six terraces and three raised beds, all perched atop a hill overlooking the Port of Vancouver, the majestic Columbian, and…that city on the other side of the River.
